Course Summary: This class offers in-depth, step by step instruction on how to plan and compose an essay. Students will learn how to select an essay topic, form a thesis statement and supporting points, outline and organize their thoughts, and properly write an essay. They will learn proper formatting and organization as well as how to properly quote and cite sources, all according to MLA standards.
Class Size: 6-7 students
Class Time: One hour per week*
Class Dates: 12 weeks*
Homework: Around 45 minutes of homework time each week

About Coach Stout
Amanda Stout holds a BA in English, CBEST certification, and a Life Coaching Certification. With over 10 years of experience teaching writing to students of all ages, from preschool to adults, she has been with Keetown since 2016. As a homeschooling mother, Amanda deeply values individualized education and integrates this perspective into her teaching approach. In addition to her career in education, Amanda has owned a successful life coaching business since 2017 and is the author of several ebooks for overwhelmed moms. One of her greatest passions in life is blending her English expertise with her training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Neurolinguistic Programming, and overall knowledge of how the brain works to help her students improve their writing skills, increase their confidence in their abilities, and develop the mindset of a writer, enabling them to communicate with clarity and purpose.
