TDE 101 -- Thesis Driven Essays 101

Course Summary: This class may be the most important one of all for students, since the thesis-driven essay is the mainstay of both high school and college essays. Students will be given a variety of essay assignments and their essays will be discussed in class. The aim is what College Board calls “mastery of writing”.
You'll write 7 essays, all of which will be discussed in class, and 2 will be corrected and returned to you with comments.
This class may be taken multiple times, since the student will be progressing at his/her own pace.
Class Size: 6-8 students
Class Time: One hour per week*
Class Dates: Eight weeks*
Teacher: Coach Cherie (BA in English and MA in Poetry with more than 20 years of teaching experiences)
Homework: Around 45 minutes of homework time each week.

Her background includes a Summa Cum Laude B.A in English, and two Masters degrees: one from Brandeis in English, and one in Creative Writing from Stanford, where she also ran the English Department’s Tutorial Center. Cherie loves inspiring students to deepen their critical thinking, and delights in watching them begin to take pride in their writing as they progress under her tutelage.
